It seems the endgame of Wall St and Silicon Valley is to have a Utopian society made exclusively for them, the way they’re rushing to put working humans out of a job. From self scans at grocery stores to fully automated McDonald’s restaurants, they’re doing anything and everything in their power to take the human element out of jobs.
I know what you’re thinking- “but isn’t that what we want? A future just like in the Jetsons?” (Remember that show? God, I’m old…) The problem is even in the Jetsons they had someone pushing buttons, and looking over the work. They still had managers and workers.
To say that capitalists in our reality would rather throw George Jetson and his family off their platform home and into the hell below would be like saying the American government is a lil dirty.
Add to that the studies in evil AI (they’re making AI evil with no option for undoing it- https://news.yahoo.com/scientists-train-ai-evil-cant-193117018.html?) and it becomes clear the powers that be don’t want a peaceful AI overlord. They want AM and a full on I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream type future scenario (but one where they live in luxury, of course),
Now, here’s the question: What can we do about this? The answer is kind of out of my range at the moment. Seeing how most governments in this world only respond to money, and we the people are chronically poor, we can’t rely on asking them nicely to not put an AM in charge of the nukes. We will have to abandon the idea of peacefully protesting in general in light of this and a lot of other things. If we want to survive to see another thousand years, we will have to fight the ruling class like there’s little room on the raft and buddy, the ship’s sinking. Because it is.
